Education In Istanbul

Istanbul has many reputable foreign language schools. Most are privately owned and can be accepted as reputable and follow and internationally recognised curriculum. We are including some sample schools in Istanbul which you can consider.

Pre-schools

International Small Hands Academy has campuses in Etiler and Rumeli Hisarı on the European side of the city and in Selamiçeşme on the Asian side. The English language school accepts children between the ages of 2 - 6.

Bosphorus International Preschool is in the neighbourhood of Emirgan on the European side of the city. The school offers a multi-cultural environment and their aim is to provide stimulating learning opportunities for children between the ages of 2 - 6 with emphasis placed on giving care to the individual needs of each child.

Istanbul International Community School (IICS) is a non-profit coeducational school offering studies in English to children of the international community. Their Hisar Campus is situated on the Bosporus in Rumeli Hisarı and is available to children from pre-kindergarten to the 3rd grade.

High Schools

The British International School Istanbul offers the English National Curriculum, GCSE and International Baccalaureate courses. The school has 3 campuses located in Alkent, Etiler and Zekeriyaköy and accepts children between the ages of 2 ½ - 18 years.

Deutsche Schule Istanbul offers a curriculum in German, except Turkish Literature and Social Studies are taught in Turkish. Non-Turkish citizens are accepted at the school under the “guest student” status.

Istanbul International Community School (IICS) is a non-profit coeducational and non-sectarian school offering a rigorous international academic program of studies to children in the international community. The school is accredited by the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). It is also one of the first schools in the world authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation. The main campus is located in Hadımköy, approximately 25 miles away in the outskirts of the city.

MEF International School (MEF) campus is located in the hills of Ortaköy. The school provides education for children between the ages of 3 - 18 and offers IBPYP (Primary Years Program) and IB Diploma program in the secondary school. Also, MEF is a fully authorised Cambridge International Center (CIE/CIC) offering Checkpoint in grade 8 and GCSE in the High School. The Learning Support Team provides assistance with ESL, Learning Remediation and Enrichment and Guidance Counselling. MEF is also a regular member of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and the Near East Asia Council of Schools.

Pierre Loti is a French language school, established independently from the Turkish National Education system. It is open to children from kindergarten through high school. It has two campuses – one in the center of the city in Beyoğlu and the other in Tarabya on the Bosporus waterfront. All classes are conducted in French and the second language is English. Students receive the French Baccalaureate diploma, which allows them to attend state universities in France.
