Turkish Music Festivals You Can't Miss This Summer

Turkey is a country rich in culture and one of the ways Turkey best represent their culture is through their love of music. You’ll find a number of festivals annually held in Turkey that will be a feast for your ears and will make any music lovers trip to Turkey that little bit more special.

So let’s take an in depth look at some of the best musical experiences you’ll find hosted in Turkey.


The Istanbul Jazz Festival


The Istanbul Jazz Festival is held in late June to mid-July and this year it will be celebrating 22 years. This massively popular cultural event plays host to a number of famous jazz artists from all over the world.
You’ll find many variants of Jazz on show at the Istanbul Jazz Festival from Classical and Modern jazz to more niche genres like Nordic jazz. And even though the festival is primarily a celebration of jazz music you’ll also find other musical genres on show like: pop, rock, funk and world music. So music lovers of other genres will surely find something to their liking.
The Istanbul Jazz Festival also takes the slightly more unusual approach of holding concerts in many different venues over the course of the festival. Theatres, Mansions, Museums and expansive out door areas all serve as venues during the Istanbul Jazz Festival.  


Sunsplash Fun Festival


The Sunsplash Festival is another annual tradition in Turkey, held in late June in the port city of Bodrum in the Muğla Province. The Sunsplash Fun Festival is a celebration of dance music and club culture all set on the beautiful Aspat beach.
A number of well-known and underground artists will take to the stage over the 8 day festival. The Aspat beach is the perfect location to just dance and celebrate the music.


Rock N Coke Istanbul


The Rock n Coke festival is an annual Turkish rock festival that has been active since 2003, the festival is traditionally held at the Hezarfen Airfield in Istanbul. The festival is usually held at the end of summer in late August or early September and although it is primarily a rock festival acts from other musical genres like pop and folk also take to the stage.


One Love Festival 14


Featuring a number of acts from all around the globe spanning a multitude of different musical genres the One Love Festival is the place to be for music lovers. Held in the famous Life Park in Istanbul the One Love Festival is held on the 13 and 14 of June this year and promises two unforgettable days of music and fun.  


1st Harvest Festival


The 1st Harvest Festival is held in KüçükÇiftlik Park, İstanbul and is a celebration of both local and international acts. Headlining this year are the Mercury Award winning band Alt-J and the Danish rock band Mew.


Vodafone Smart 6 Open Air Concerts


The Vodafone Smart 6 Open Air Concerts are a series on 6 concerts held at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Amphitheatre in Istanbul. From the 23rd to the 30th June the series of concerts will each be helmed be a different Turkish artist or group.
This year’s performers are: pop singer Ajda Pekkan, the pop and rock trio MFÖ, the pop duo Bülent Ortaçgil Birsen Tezer, the rock singer Sebnem Ferah, the acoustic rock singer Teoman and finally the pop singer Kenan Doğulu.
The Vodafone Smart 6 Open Air Concerts are a brilliant celebration of some of Turkey’s most talented musical stars. So if you have an interest in Turkey’s musical culture make sure you grab some tickets.
