Mustafa Kemal Atatürk - 76th Anniversary10th November 2014
Today, November 10th marks the anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and throughout Turkey ceremonies will be held to commemorate the 76th anniversary of his death.
The Turkish nation will remember with gratitude and respect this great leader, who was the commander in chief in the Turkish war of Independence and founder of the Grand National Assembly and of the Republic of Turkey.
At 9:05am many millions will observe a minute's silence out of respect for this great leader.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is one of the most highly regarded leaders in world history. He propelled Turkey into the ranks of the world’s major nations thanks to his military prowess and his political genius.
As he said before he passed away on November 10, 1938, “My poor body will one day re-turn to dust, but the Republic of Turkey will endure forever”
Every year on November 10th, generations of Turks will always remember Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and endeavour to understand how he transformed Turkey into one nation.
Why was Kemal Atatürk important to Turkey?
He wasn't important, He is important. He is the reason why Turks exist. If He wasn't born, there would be no such thing as a 'Turk'. He is the creator of the Republic Of Turkey. Turks owe Him their existence, because He dedicated his life to Turkey. He is the greatest leader, president, commander and father a country could ever have. Even if he didn't have a child, he is the father of Turks.
